Archangel Michael Sketch

Recovering from Holidays Round I - lol - and didn't quite get to where I wanted to be with the next planned post from the Copacabana mini project, so I decided to take a bit more time on it, start over and really make it nice. Therefore, I present a doodly-sketch-thing of Archangel Michael. Just with pencil, no fancy digital tweaking. Had thought to revamp the Angelic War Storyboards that I did my last semester of school for Barry's class, but it will have to wait since I have some Magic Box lessons to get caught up on AND some big portfolio plans on the horizon. ; )
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving/weekend!!

Spanning the *Imaginary* Globe

I've been struggling a bit for the last week or so to better understand and become more confident in certain artistic areas that I realized were sadly lacking. I wouldn't say I'm totally uncomfortable or purposefully avoid them...since I have found several earnest attempts when searching through past work that aren't too ghastly...I just don't feel like my skills there are as strong as in others. Plenty of time to fix that now since it will effect other working projects soon.

Anyways, pulled this from the game pitch I did as a supplement to the very last project in Comp. Illustration II. It's a manipulated photograph of a 3D map I did a while back, NOT for school, when I was really bored - made out of folded paper and LOTS of tissue paper/tape and careful application of acrylics...hmmm, now that I look at it, this was before I added the moss-tree/forests in the greener areas. The highest mountains are probably 1-2inches above the sea level which is the wood base.
As I was so bored when starting this map, there exists documents figuring out the plate tectonics that would cause such features, weather patterns for each region, political distinctions, general flora/fauna - though I didn't get to sketching out some of those creatures before the next semester started - and an outline for a Creation Myth/Pantheon. Yeah...I was really bored...I probably watched all three LOTR movies four times with each set of audio commentary in the process. Good times.

Graduation!!

And so my time at RMCAD draws to a close...I am relieved and over-joyed to be finished, excited to be moving to a new place, and HORRIBLY depressed to be leaving my friends. Strangely I'm not stressed about finding a job or repaying my loans, but I'm sure that will kick in soon enough.

Anyways, this was one of the two last completed projects I did for school. This was for Comp. Illustration II > the Client Project. Essentially my teacher was my client and I went through the process of drafting a contract and negotiating terms and completing revisions, etc. My teacher (Cherish) told me to create two characters: a brother and sister, both younger than 15 for either film or games...I went a little overboard.
I created the two characters for the poster....and then I drafted a One-Page game design document, followed by a 10-Pager, and all of this went onto my moving picture frame for Grad Exhibition. It was probably the most fun I had on a project in the shortest time frame yet (Because I essentially had one weekend to do everything) and I plan on working on this even more since I'm liking where it's headed.

The last-last project I completed for school will be posted once I get decent pictures of the images (36 total). It was the storyboard for The Angelic War, starring Archangel Michael and Archangel Lucifer. A little less pleased with that one, but it still came out nice as a whole. So I hope to be posting that in a couple weeks once I have a spare minute again.

Hope to see everyone at Industry Night (19th) and Graduation (20th)!!!

Good versus Evil...plus Nahna

This is the finished Nahna piece. I almost have the tutorial part of it done, so I'll be posting that here shortly as well. (Just a few more fun details to make it look nice)

So as labeled, these two gentlemen are the Archangels, Lucifer and Michael. I did these sketches for the last story boarding project in Barry Kooser's Creative Vis. class - in which I will depict the final battle of the First Angelic War and the following Fall of Lucifer. These are indeed exciting times. ^^
