Four Beauties of Ancient China

Here is my final for the sequential piece: 4 Beauties of Ancient China. It is sequential in that it goes through breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Acrylic painting taken into Photoshop.

Fall 2011 > AS:Proposals

These are from AS: Proposals - you might remember Makoto from an earlier post. The layout is his parent's house and the red "highlighted" room is shown below that. This is his mother's tea room where Rieda is introduced to her mother-in-law before the Dinner Party. The Character Sheets for Saori Naru and Takeshi Yoshimoto can be found on my Digication page in the Personal Projects tab.

This is an oil portrait I did of Mio Jane Sakuma. Mio is from the Sendai, Japan and spent a year with my family as a foreign exchange student with the YFU program (My senior year of high school, immediately following my own YFU adventure in Kumamoto, Japan) - essentially becoming one of my sisters. There was no under painting -finished in roughly three hours based off of a couple pictures of her...

November 2011 > Clarice

This is the character Clarice from the play "A Servant of Two Masters." She's supposed to be rather flat and one-dimensional (The Lady-in-love, but a superficial love) but I liked the idea of her "poofing" herself up to appear more substantial. I was inspired by a research paper I was writing on Japanese street fashion - particularly Visual Kei style, like the band Versailles - which led to researching Rococo revival. I enjoyed creating the turn around and the exaggerated expression which I accomplished via use of a mirror.

Fall 2011 > Card

SO...I have the amazing opportunity to go to CTN this year with my friends. (Most if not all linked under the Fellow Creatives section) I am really excited. Seriously. REALLY excited. I will get to be in the same room as Andreas Deja. I might get to meet Andreas Deja. I get all spastic giggly when I think about it. He is such an amazing animator/artist. ^^
Anyways, this is a painted-up version of a sketch I did for my current Directed Themes project - the character is Yang Guifei, one of the Four Beauties of Ancient China. (With a face so beautiful that it put flowers to shame) I'm using it as half of my business card for the CTN trip. Will no doubt change my card when I take all the final portfolio classes next semester...my last semester. ><

Fall 2011 > EBK

These were done for my Computer Illustration I class - The Boy and Wolf narrative is based off of my personal project EBK (Where boy=wolf) - the character is Anzel. (Based off my lil bro ^_^) Every time I hear the song mentioned I picture this sequence...only animated. If I had more patience I'd animate it out...but I don't, so oh well. Done in Adobe Illustrator. I love the pencil tool...and Shift+W.

Fall 2011 > AS:UBB

This is part of a page from my current sketchbook. It's doodles of James and his younger brother Jaren. Had James pretty much figured out in my head for a while - did a LOT of work tweaking his personality and such. Jaren took a little longer, but I'm pretty happy with him now.
If Larry lets me go ahead and use ASUBB for my Directed Themes projects then there will most likely be alterations made - perhaps some that I don't think are necessary or even like - but at least I'll be doing something I feel even remotely attached to. Can't say the same for most assignments and I think it shows...thus school projects aren't being posted here. XP

Fall 2011 > AS:UBB

This is actually an updated version of a previous sketch of the character: Oliver Glen Fa Floridian. This one's proportions are far more accurate - even though now he feels short to me. I don't imagine him to be a short person. (Hmm) I will get around to painting him eventually.

D&D

This is my D&D character Fyedka. D&D is cool. I don't care what you people think.

Bird on a Wire

This was my submission for Illustrious Voyeur's first issue: The Circus. I did this in Sharpie and Micron pen, took me about 4ish hours (maybe) from white paper to finish. Illustrious Voyeur was started by a few friends of mine - fellow female Illustrators at RMCAD. It's a neat little production that people should check out or submit work to. Email illustriousvoyeur@gmail.com for more information.

Summer 2011 > AS:P

This is an oil portrait (Acrylic under painting) I did in that last couple weeks (Probably 3 hours total though since I let it sit around half finished for a long time) of my character Makoto Naru from my personal project, Project A-Sutenki: Proposals.

Thoughts 27.7.11

So, I have been various shades of indisposed for the past couple days. (Darn those internal complaints) The only awesome part about it has been that in those blessed periods of controllable mobility and clarity in thought, I was able to get some work done. Like...done done. (I was equally surprised)

I sat down and started scripting out A-S: Supplemental - Proposals for graphic novel conversion...and I got six pages in before realizing...I can't. Apart from tweaking what I have, I can't really do anything else with it. Let's face it: it would not make a particularly thrilling graphic novel since there's not much actual action. It's good enough as a short. So yeah...packing it up and moving on I guess.

Also...and I know Brit will know exactly what I mean when I say this...what is up with the letter W? George Wickham. John Willoughby. Seriously.

Summer 2011 > AS:P

This is an oil portrait (Acrylic under painting) I did this last Wednesday (Because I was bored during LP2) of my character Rieda Samejima [Naru] from my personal project, A-Sutenki: Proposals. This is the side project that has the most of my attention at the moment, so chances are good that Proposal characters will turn up quite a bit in the near future.

This Should Resemble a Blog Post

In Theory. In Practice, that may or may not be achieved and I may or may not be especially concerned by its success or failure. The idea I have supporting this particular post is to have some kind of brief statement as to what sorts of things the viewer can expect to see in future posts.

This blog will hereafter primarily contain written and visual descriptions of the Cosmic Jingle Universe. What that is will be elaborated on as posts progress, but for now it can simply be defined as the mass of Worlds, Characters, and Stories that inhabit the vast closet of my imagination. Normally one could only find such insight from browsing the thick, ever-expanding binders that I have kept up for various personal projects. Now, bit by bit, this library will be opened up to a wider audience for constructive criticism. Items that I do not want commentary on will be marked accordingly.
This blog will also see the occasional post regarding projects pursued on a more official level, i.e. school work or collaborative projects that are not exposure-restricted. And I suppose if anything else strikes me as relevant, I will mention that too.

So at this point it is time to do a little exploring. I hope that whomever you are, you find the journey as entertaining as I do.
